Pix'Elles MetaLab

For over forty years, my work has taken place in recording studios, where I have worked as a composer and multimedia sound engineer. Throughout this time, I have experienced numerous adventures. What I enjoy most is not performing, but inventing music. My favorite “instrument” is called MULTICREA, a highly advanced multimedia recording studio that has, over the years, hosted wonderful musicians, singers, arrangers, lyricists, choreographers, and graphic artists. Together, we formed the Quark Sinfonietta Orchestra and conceived the musical productions now gathered under Pix’Elles Rhapsody.

My approach to musical creation is similar to that of film directing, following an asynchronous process. Here’s how each step of musical creation parallels the world of cinema:

  1. Choosing scores is like choosing a script: This step initiates the creative process by defining the framework of the work, just as one would with a film.
  2. Directing musicians is equivalent to directing actors: It involves guiding performers to bring the musical composition to life, just as a director leads actors to embody their roles.
  3. Selecting the best takes is akin to selecting rushes: The finest musical moments are chosen, just as one selects the best scenes during the editing process of a film.
  4. Creating acoustic spaces corresponds to creating special effects: This involves designing soundscapes, much like special effects add an immersive dimension to a film.
  5. Inventing imaginary soundscapes is comparable to building sets: Unique auditory environments are crafted, just like sets build the visual universe of a film.
  6. Responding to the music industry crisis by offering audiovisual professionals “Everything you’ve ever dreamed of to orchestrate your images” (via orchestral songs in decomposed instrumental versions on OrchestralKit.Film): This allows these musical pieces to live within your own audiovisual works.
  7. Creating musical NFTs for the metaverse is about exploring what we can imagine there: It’s a way to discover new ways of using music in virtual worlds. This technology opens up new and unprecedented creative horizons.

By orchestrating each step of this process, I have brought Pix’Elles Rhapsody to life: a complete and immersive artistic work that merges music, technology, and innovation.
